MANHATTAN BEACH
Why live in Manhattan Beach?
Becoming an official part of Los Angeles in 1912, Manhattan Beach has been a laid-back beach community since its inception.
Manhattan Beach has some of the lowest crime rates in the country, and with beautiful walk-streets and well-maintained public spaces, Manhattan Beach is a great place to spend your days and nights outside. Manhattan Beach contains fine-grained sand beaches that compete with the best in the world. In the 1920s, Hawaii even bought excess sand from Manhattan Beach to cover their own rock and coral beaches since the sand in Manhattan Beach is so ideal!
Right next to the ocean and the iconic Manhattan Beach Pier, Downtown Manhattan Beach has countless restaurants, stores, salons and other local businesses for kids and adults alike. Shop at Manhattan Beach’s local boutiques or enjoy a visit to the Roundhouse Aquarium at the end of the Manhattan Beach Pier. From seafood to Italian food, from Mexican food to French cuisine, there is sure to be a downtown restaurant for you. For those with a sweet tooth, you can enjoy Manhattan Beach staples, like the Manhattan Beach Creamery or Becker’s Bakery, a family-owned bakery that recently competed on Cupcake Wars. Downtown also hosts various pubs and bars, ranging in price from low-end to upscale. The new Metlox in Downtown Manhattan Beach provides fun for all ages, with bars and restaurants for adults and families and an outdoor interactive fountain for kids.
Great Schools
With four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school, each with a base API score over 900, Manhattan Beach contains some of the highest ranked schools in the country for academics, sports, music and the visual arts.
Housing award-winning sports, robotics, media, music, and various other programs, Mira Costa High School has earned a gold medal for being one of the top 500 high schools nationwide, according to US News & World Report.
Tons of Fun
Manhattan Beach also hosts various events throughout the year, including the AVP Manhattan Beach Open, Shakespeare by the Sea, annual Christmas fireworks, and summer concerts in Polliwog Park. The new Arclight Beach Cities in neighboring El Segundo provides movies and entertainment, too. Manhattan Beach rests in the perfect location for nature lovers. Surfers and boogie-boarders can enjoy the beautiful beaches, but with less than an hour’s drive, hikers can reach the both the Santa Monica Mountains and San Gabriel Mountains for excellent trails and views of Los Angeles.
