HERMOSA BEACH

Why live in Hermosa Beach?

The city of Hermosa Beach acquired its ownership of two miles of ocean front land in 1907, but this always excluded the 210 feet on either side of the Hermosa Beach pier.

The deed stated that this land was “to be held in perpetuity as a beach playground, free from commerce, and for the benefit of not only the residents of Hermosa, but also for the sea lovers of Southern California.” These ideas are still reflected today with ample public space for walking, running, bike riding and beach sports. With twenty parks in only 1.43 square miles of land, Hermosa Beach is a little beach community that values sunshine and time outside. Spend your days surfing on Hermosa Beach’s iconic beaches, or drive less than an hour to reach both the Santa Monica Mountains and San Gabriel Mountains for excellent trails and views of Los Angeles.

Downtown Hermosa Beach boasts a bustling night life. Laugh your head off during comedy nights at the Comedy and Magic Club where Jay Leno makes an appearance every Sunday night. Have a drink at one of Downtown’s various pubs, clubs, or bars, or spend your weekend at one of Hermosa Beach’s popular night clubs. Enjoy Mediterranean food, pizza, seafood, Italian food, Cajun food, and much more, all within walking distance of Hermosa Beach Pier and beach. Downtown Hermosa Beach also hosts fun for all ages, with many restaurants and stores for kids, teens, and families, too.

Great Schools

Housing award-winning sports, robotics, media, music, and various other programs, Hermosa Beach’s Mira Costa High School has earned a gold medal for being one of the top 500 high schools nationwide, according to US News & World Report. The two elementary schools in Hermosa beach also earned perfect 10s across the board from the California Department of Education.
